How much does a photographer cost in the Algarve?
Real 2026 rates in the region, what is and isn't included, and how to tell whether a quote is expensive or simply complete.
The short answer
In the Algarve, the price of a session comes down to three things: how long it lasts, how many edited photographs you receive, and how far the photographer has to travel. A one-hour session with an edited gallery runs between €100 and €400. A wedding falls between €800 and €3,000, depending on hours of coverage and whether there's a second shooter.
The spread inside those ranges is rarely random: it reflects editing time, delivery deadlines, equipment and the kind of coverage involved. It's worth understanding what each quote includes rather than comparing numbers alone.
The price of a photograph is rarely the price of the day. It's the price of everything that happens before and after it.
Why the numbers vary so much
Two quotes with the same number can be entirely different things. It's always worth comparing these six points:
- Number of edited photographs — and whether editing is individual or batch
- Delivery time, which ranges from 7 days to 3 months
- Usage rights, especially in commercial photography
- Travel: many photographers charge beyond a 30 km radius
- Second shooter, assistant and lighting equipment
- Albums, prints and physical products, almost always extra
What tends to be left out
The most common surprises are the hourly rate for overtime on the wedding day, travel outside the region, and buying extra images when the delivered gallery is small. Always ask for those three figures in writing before signing.
